Changes in standard EN1176-6 concerning play equipment with springs

Let’s continue our overview of changes in standards, this time with a look at standard EN 1176-6 dedicated to play equipment on springs.
A new inspection template is established as part of the standard.

The template takes the shape of a ring with an inner diameter of 44 mm and 22 mm thick.

The purpose of this new requirement is to reduce the risks of eye injuries caused by the ends of handles or bars jutting out. During tests carried out with this template, the handles must never go through the ring.

To comply with this new requirement, the ends of the handles on our spring riders have been modified.
The plugs at the ends of the handles and footrests have been enlarged, or a part has been added to ensure that the template does not slide onto the elements concerned, to ensure optimum user safety.
