New products in the 2010 catalogue: The Fantastic Worlds

The Fantastic Worlds: three activity centres designed around innovative structures with original designs that enable users to explore new ways of having fun.

Last November, at the Salon des Maires show in France, Proludic and its teams presented their latest concept for leisure area development: Ludic’Area (see the article in the “What's new at Proludic?” section).

The commercial launch began in January with an initial group of products brought together under the Fantastic Worlds heading.

Made up of the Fantastic Cities, the Vertical World and the Suspended World, the Fantastic Worlds provide children and teenagers with plenty of new solutions involving three-dimensional space, for original, fun and physically challenging play.

The Fantastic Cities are big towers that are up to 7 metres high and feature 3 themes: Metropolis, Medieval and Amazon.

The Vertical World is an adventure trail made up of climbing modules which involve varied movements and multiply the technical challenges to be met when moving from one obstacle to another.

The Suspended World, provides new types of play activities in an overhead trail. All thanks to rope elements placed well above the ground, linked to arches, bridges, nests and cableways.

These structures require supple movements and techniques to master space and heights.

In our last Newsletter, we set out the main outlines of our new product concept, Ludic’Area.
In this newsletter, we take a look at one of Ludic’Areas key elements: the Fantastic Cities.

The Fantastic Cities

The Fantastic Cities are characterised by big multiplay towers that are immediately identifiable thanks to their oversized dimensions and their carefully worked design.
As the standard-bearers for a theme selected from three worlds that are firmly anchored in children’s imaginations, these tall towers add grandeur to play areas and take children on an adventure.

3 themes to choose from

Metropolis is a highly original theme.
Its futuristic/retro atmosphere is created by the choice of materials (galvanised steel, stainless steel, compact composite). The copper orange and black colours, with the special decorative elements: portholes, propellers and gear wheels are reminiscent of the mechanical parts seen on time machines.
All these components create a modern, unique play area. The first of its kind in the world of outdoor play equipment.

The Medieval City, with its impressive towers, fires children’s imaginations.
Immediately identifiable thanks to architectural details (banners, battlements, and ornamental crests, together with pointed arches and bars on the openings) and the colours of the Middle Ages (blue, yellow, orange and green). These play structures open up hosts of possibilities for play.

The Amazon Village, powerfully themed thanks to its elements that conjure up luxuriant green wildlife, carrying children into a tropical jungle that is full of adventure.
The choice of colours (green, brown, orange, cinnamon) and the use of wood as the dominant material for the posts and panels stay close to nature and take their inspiration from ruined Maya buildings, sacred totems or constructions typical in the tropical forests of Latin America.

A rational, modular design

The big towers of the Fantastic Cities are available in 3 shapes: square, octagonal and cross-shaped.
They have been rationally designed in regards to their heights, the panels used and the materials selected.
For example, the facing panels for all three themes can be fitted on any of the three tower shapes.

This modularity provides a wide range of possibilities and enables us to tailor the solutions to suit customer requirements, the size of the play area and the desired level of integration with the environment.

A host of play activities

Moving beyond the visual aspect, the towers provide large numbers of play activities for children in the 3 to 12 year age group.
Sliding and climbing activities take pride of place with the many different elements that can be fixed to the towers, such as tubular slides, nets or climbing poles.

The flexible or rigid catwalks that can be used to link the towers together also form real adventure trails that help children to enhance their sense of balance and get a head for heights.

The themes and all the corresponding elements are ideal for role-play and sharing.

The Fantastic Cities constitute strong personalised elements for urban leisure areas or open spaces.
Whether developed on their own or integrated into existing play equipment, they act as attractive focal points through their originality and the wide range of play activities available.
