Play areas should aim to compliment and enhance the natural environment.

The surroundings of the area, the products selected (comfort, safety, long service life), the target market (age of the users, presence of accompanying adults, accessibility for the disabled) are all factors that have to be taken into account when designing a play or sports area.

The 12 tips to ensure your playground is a success.: Vary the types of play functions (climbing, sliding, swinging, hiding, etc.); Make sure the equipment is assembled and installed by professionals.; Only include fencing if there is a real need.; Depending on the number of children using the playground, plan inspections to check the state of the equipment and the surfaces, and the cleanliness of the playground.; Install an information board; Include equipment for different age groups and varying levels of ability.; Use safer surfacing materials around equipment that may involve the risk of falls.; Leave the necessary free areas for movement between each of the play units (see the instructions); Avoid putting thorny or toxic plants near the playground.; Include waste bins to reduce littering.; Include benches for adults and if possible, shelter them from the sun and from draughts.; Avoid installing slides in a direction in which the sliding metal surface is exposed to direct sunlight.
